Shop Talk! with Designer Julia Mack
When we work with designers that speak our language, we get excited about every project they bring to us. Julia Mack, based in Brooklyn, is a leading New York designer of luxury interiors and one of our favorite designers to work with. Her sense of color and ability to make a room sing in harmony through pattern, color and texture is very much in synch with our aesthetic. We especially love how she considers the overall goals of the room for her clients and exceeds their expectations through her dedication to meet their criteria and create a space for them that they will enjoy season after season.
AA: What were your goals for this project?
JM: The two main goals of this design project were to introduce curvy and colorful elements to an otherwise plain and boxy space and to incorporate the clients’ hand-me-down wood furniture to add depth and unique personality to the whole apartment.
AA: What drew you to Angela Adams ‘Flora’ design initially?
JM: Initially, it was the undulating waves and rounded shapes that work so nicely with the design concept.
AA: Why did the custom version of ‘Flora’ work so well in your project?
JM: Once I traced the design of the rug to scale on a floor plan of the room, it became clear that this was the perfect way to add custom color, texture and impact; all of the other design selections then fell right into place.
